Care support and treatment (CST) plays a vital role in managing the HIV infected in every state of the disease. It is one of the most important component of National AIDS control Program(NACP). By providing better care support and treatment services are focused at providing better Quality of life for people infected with HIV. Tamil Nadu is a pioneer in providing CST services, the GHTM Tambaram was one of the first centers in India to provide free ART role out in 1st April 2004 and subsequently the free second line second line ART was rolled out in Jan 2008. Today there are are various institutions provide CST services in Tamil Nadu Monitored by TANSACS. The details and Facilities are as follows. |

| In Tamil Nadu currently there are 42 + 1(CMC, Vellore – Public Private Partnership) fully functional ART Centers, with a total of 1,91,301 patients in HIV care, 94,193 patients ever started on ART & a total of 58,952 patients currently on ART ( as on Jan 31st 2012 ). The state average for LFU of ART patients is 4018 (3.02%) |

| ART Plus Centers: |
| As per NACP III ART plus centers were planned to provide second line ART patients apart from CoEs and conduct District AIDS Clinical Expert Panel (DACEP) to . In TamilNadu, as per AAP 2010-11, three ART Plus centers to be operationalized. At present 1 ART plus center (Salem ART) is fully functional and 2 More Centers (Tirunelveli and Madurai) were sanctioned by NACO. |

| Link ART Centers: |
| To minimize the travel need for the patients stable on ART, authorized Drug Distribution Centers called Link ART centers are created and located near the patients residence. These centers are linked to a Nodal ART center within accessible distance. There are 90 link ART centers have been approved for the TN state in 2011-12 AAP for Tamil Nadu. Currently there are 84 LACs functional in Tamil Nadu. |
